Creating Gill's Mother Of The Bride Outfit
It was back in 2019 when beautiful Gill first stepped into The Secret Fitting Room.
Her daughter, Emma was getting married at the stunning Hedsor House in Taplow, Buckinghamshire and the team were already helping to create the perfect fit for her wedding dress. As with many women we help, Gill was finding it difficult to find a mother of the bride outfit that she really loved.
We immediately fell in love with Gill’s kind, elegant charm and knew we could help. In fact, we could not wait to get started!

Our Collaborative Design Process
Gill sat down and had a private chat with our highly experienced dressmaker Cathy in our comfortable Victorian atelier in High Wycombe. Our bespoke process is very much collaborative and personal, and Cathy discussed Gill’s likes and dislikes and they explored various options together.
Cathy and Gill considered particular favourite and flattering colours and tones, especially pinks and blues. Gill was able to see and feel the fabrics, and consider different skirt shapes that she would feel most comfortable in – should she wear a fitted or a circle skirt?
The final design was chosen. A powder blue high-neck fitted bodice with soft white piping detail, all flowing into a fitted pencil skit, which ‘kicks out’ at the bottom for stunning movement and flow.

Making Gill's Dream Dress Come True
Between fabric trips to London, joyful fittings and friendly phone calls, Gill’s Mother of the Bride outfit started to take shape.
The trials of 2020 meant that her daughter Emma’s wedding day had to be postponed and we had to wait for the day when we could finally see Gill’s dress shine.
We also had the pleasure of helping Emma with her wedding dress which needed some final adjustments.
“My dress was absolutely perfect and exactly what I wanted. I had so many lovely comments!
I so enjoyed wearing it on the day and felt really special. Thank you, you are such a talented team.” Gill
